Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a FREE! operating system from linux, linux have been very very successful with their truly astonishing work. Linux is ran by volunteers who are professionals at what they do best, to be honest they are better programmers than those at windows, in comparison to windows linux are very high in the ranks and is sitting right next to windows in great contest! many people despise windows and rather use a free, better and faster operating system with far more flexibility and without programing limitations and constraints. Ubuntu is so easy to use, and has far more possibilities. I recently got ubuntu on my desktop computer and in comparison to my WinXp and Win7 i honestly found that Ubuntu was more efficient when using the full potential of the machines power. Ubuntu is so easy to install, but after lots of research into the installation setup iv came up with the below:

Installation

When installing ubuntu on your computer or laptop, you can either: Install next to windows as a dual boot, or Delete everything and install ubuntu directly onto the disk. To start installing ubuntu, you must burn the .iso file (provided from ubuntu.com) onto a CD as a BOOTABLE DISK! once the cd has successfully burnt, insert the CD into your computer you can either do one of the following to continue the installation.

  • Install next to windows: Insert the cd into your computer and click on my computer, locate the CD drive and double click it, the installation wizard will define your installation defaults. Click install inside windows and follow the instructions.
  • Install from CD (delete windows): Insert the cd into your computer and restart the machine, during boot press F8 or another key to open up your Bios Settings, once you are inside the bios, use the arrow keys to locate Boot, inside boot select the Ubuntu bootable disk, the cd will swap operating systems so your machine is reliant to the CD, Warning removing the CD whilst installing ubuntu onto hard-drive will corrupt all files on your machine and you may have to buy a completely new hard-drive and try again!!!! when the installation is complete the computer will turn itself of and boot in Ubuntu (windows has been removed from your machine entirely). once booted ubuntu will download packages to complete and update the installation, Ubuntu will be pre-loaded with basic programs like Office and Firefox. once the installation is complete you will really notice the difference strait away!

To find out why linux and ubuntu is free click here, to Download the complete iso file click here to go strait to the download page, on the page you should find instructions to download and install. to upgrade your version of ubuntu follow the links to the update area to keep you with the latest tools and features, most updates need admision passwords to acces/ complete the download or upgrade.

Try it! just boot from a ubuntu cd and test it for yourself, if you dont like it just remove the disk and contiue using your current operating system.
