Bunkspeed

bunkspeed have found a way to produce LIVE renders! you can rotate around your objects and already see the rendered result, but.. how do they do it? whats it good for? how do you use it? where can i get it? and how much does it cost??? all these questions will be answared and dont worry were not biased and yes we have tried it and we want to help you decide if you want to buy it.

Well first off, what is it?

well its a proffesinal GPU renderer and if your a beginer to 3d rendering then DONT READ THIS! it will be a waste of time! you could be looking at some of our tutorials in this time :P

yup, what im about to tell you all might be only understoud by pro's, so bunkspeed. it is very quick and pretty much exciting, it gives you a real chance to explore your realisitc creation. iv made a list of specs and features below (please note bunkspeed are about to launch a new version of hypershot but ill try and update the page about it)

Main features:

• Gpu and Cpu rendering (graphics and computer)
• raytraceing
• direct-lighting
• hdr/i packs
• materials
• lighting

what it can't do:

• you cant setup specific lights and place them in areas
• it says its fast, which it is compared to other renderers but takes about half an hour to finish a complex scene at a small picture.
• its very cpu heavy, so you cant do other things whilst rendering
• saving screen-shots inside hypershot is very hard to find where you saved them, its not a browse sort of thing.
• very rarely the computer freezes, really annoying!

and my computer is fairly powerfull, but i must say rendering on a far should be alot faster.

Hypershot can be useful for a lot of scenes, but bunkspeed is mainly good at hard surface models like cars and buildings. but this is not really good at organic models like trees and animals. this may be a downside if your a organic modeler..

using the program is not really hard or complicated but you do have to pay attention if you want the render you want. which can get complicated if you want a diffrent style of render, hypershot is not the sort of renderer you can do styles in; there is only one style made for creating hard-surface renders.

Bunkspeed are very popular and big names use it such as Motorola and Griffin (there are loads more). but its pretty easy to get, just click shop and choose the program you want (iv been talking about shot). there are more programs called "move" and "drive" these are a bit diffrent to Shot but they can do animations and simulations. but please read to the end of the article before you decide you want it.

Cost

The cost of the product has been reduced a bit but i dont think you can buy the new version of Shot till the testers have proven it safe to use then declare it stable. iv bought an edu version for about $74 which is an ok price if it was yours forever, mine has a one year license and about to expire soon. but im going to buy it again so ill stick with what i know; ill post some links to where to buy and websites about bunkspeeed:
